Introduction

The Active Directory Plugin is a plugin that's provided by ConnectWise Automate that will allow Automate to sync with Active Directory for your clients or for your domain controllers.

It gathers a lot of great information that you can report on. It allows you to create monitors for things like expired accounts, trouble accounts, etc. It also allows technicians to perform active directory-related tasks such as disabling users, changing group membership, or resetting a password.

It allows you to do day-to-day administrative-type tasks and automate without having to remote into a domain controller. It's a huge time saver, and if you want a help desk level technician to be able to do that type of work, but don't want them to give them direct access to a domain controller, this allows you to provide that toolset to them without having to provide access to the whole domain controller.

It's a great plugin. It has a lot of great uses, and it makes administrative access and administration of Active Directory a little bit easier. Now there are a variety of setup steps that have to take place, and you have to lay the groundwork, create some credentials, and a few different things, but overall, I find it to be quite useful, and I wanted to cover it here.

If that's something you're interested in, and you want to learn more about it, you can do so right here. This will also be linked over in the community, and as always, you can comment on it there or ask any questions.

Happy automating!
